The Ikeda Wine Festival is an autumn celebration of grape harvests and the start of wine making season. It is one of the most popular events in Tokachi for sampling Tokachi wines and beef grilled over charcoal. Colder climate grapes are grown and you can try Tokappu red wine, white wine and citizens’ rose as well as grape juice. Grilled Tokachi beef, beef sausage, beef hamburger-steak, Chan-Chan Yaki and Ikeda potatoes will complement the wine.
Kids and adults alike will enjoy the charcoal pit with three Ikeda cows roasting on a spit for ten hours. Various interesting events are held as well focused on wine and grape knowledge and there are stalls selling local products produced using Tokachi wines and speciality wines that can only be bought here.
Ikeda Autumn Wine Festival is on the lawn of the Ikeda Wine Castle and is a 10-minute walk from Ikeda Station on the Nemuro Line or a 50 minute drive from Tokachi Obihiro Airport
